Celebrating Our One-Year Journey at Techo International Airport

Today, 9 September 2026, we celebrate one year of operations at Techo International Airport. On this day in 2025, the Cambodian people welcomed a new achievement in the country’s aviation sector as our airport began operations.


Here are nine things to know about our airport:

We began operations on 9 September 2025, followed by our official inauguration on 20 October 2025.

Our departure area on Level 2 is home to a Buddha statue weighing 9 tonnes and standing 9 metres tall. It is a popular meeting point where Cambodian and international visitors gather, take commemorative photographs or pay their respects and pray for well-being before travelling onwards.

The first phase of our airport’s development involved an investment of US$2.3 billion by Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd. (CAIC), a Cambodian joint venture between OCIC (90%) and the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (10%).

Our airport is classified as 4F and occupies a 2,600-hectare site. Our runway measures 4 kilometres in length and 75 metres in width, allowing us to accommodate large aircraft such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747.

Designed by renowned architectural firm Foster + Partners, our terminal features a roof design inspired by the rumduol flower and a ceiling framework inspired by traditional Khmer bamboo fishing equipment.

In 2026, we received two major international honours: the “World’s Best New Airport Terminal 2026” award from Skytrax and a place among the “World’s Most Beautiful Airports 2026” selected by Prix Versailles in France.

A total of 200 Cambodian engineers and more than 17,000 skilled workers helped build our airport.

Our airport offers nearly 2,000 parking spaces for cars and motorcycles combined, including spaces for more than 900 cars.

For its operations, TIA is managed by leading French and Cambodian partners. Société Concessionnaire de l’Aéroport (VINCI Airports) oversees aeronautical services, while duty-free, retail, and F&B operations are entrusted to Lagardère Travel Retail, HSC Group, and Newrest.
