According to Oknha Charles Vann, the Buddha statue weighs 9 tons and stands 9 meters tall. It is crafted in a meditative pose to showcase Cambodia’s architectural and cultural identity, as well as to highlight Buddhism as the state religion to both national and international guests. The official opening of the airport is scheduled for September 9 this year.
Additionally, this initiative aims to offer a sense of peace and spiritual comfort to all travelers, both domestic and international, who pass through the airport.

Oknha Charles Vann further stated that since Buddhism is the national religion of Cambodia, the overall design and layout of the new airport will reflect authentic Khmer traditions and culture. This includes the placement of the Buddha statue, which symbolizes peace and well-being. It also serves to present a cultural landmark that international tourists can appreciate, showcasing Cambodia’s spiritual heritage.

It should be noted that, besides the Buddha statue, the Techo International Airport will also feature a variety of other Khmer-style sculptures, most of which originate from Siem Reap province.
