Kandal Province, March 12, 2024 – Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over a meeting and conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction of the Techo International Airport, a 4F-class facility now under development.



As of February 21, 2024, the first phase of the airport project has achieved 66.1 percent completion, with a total of USD 961 million invested out of the planned USD 1.5 billion. The first phase of Techo International Airport is scheduled to commence operations in the first half of 2025.
Expressing deep pride and excitement during the visit, Prime Minister Hun Manet described Techo International Airport as a landmark achievement for the Cambodian people. He praised the dedication of Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd. (CAIC) in driving construction forward despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.



The Prime Minister also highly commended the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, the administrations of Kandal and Takeo provinces, as well as all relevant ministries and institutions for their close coordination in ensuring the project progresses according to plan.
He highlighted that more than 8,000 workers are currently engaged at the construction site, underscoring that Techo International Airport will bring significant benefits to all Cambodians—creating jobs, boosting economic growth, and strengthening the nation’s connectivity with the world.
Prime Minister Hun Manet concluded by reaffirming that Cambodia’s progress is a result of lasting peace, stressing the importance of safeguarding it as the foundation for the country’s continued development and prosperity.
