Techo International Airport has officially opened “La Francophonie is Landing at Techo International Airport,” a free exhibition celebrating Cambodia’s heritage, history and longstanding ties with the Francophone world.

The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Emmanuel Ly-Batallan, H.E. Chhay Sivlin, Mr. Yee Con Long and Mr. Julien Bert, together with representatives from the General Department of Immigration, airlines and media organizations, as well as other distinguished guests.

The exhibition comes as Cambodia prepares to host the 20th Francophonie Summit for the first time. Delegations, officials, journalists and visitors from across the Francophone world will travel to Cambodia, with many beginning their journey at Techo International Airport.

As Cambodia’s main international gateway, the airport plays an important role in shaping visitors’ first impressions of the country. Recognized among the World’s Most Beautiful Airports in 2026 by Prix Versailles, Techo International Airport aims to offer travelers a warm welcome while introducing them to Cambodia’s rich history and culture.

The exhibition explores Cambodia’s place in the Francophone world, tracing the beginnings of institutional Francophonie to 1970 and highlighting His Majesty the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk as one of its founding figures. It also presents the historical and cultural ties between Cambodia and France, which remain visible today in architecture, education and language.
 

Beyond their shared history, the exhibition looks toward the future. Cambodia’s hosting of the Francophonie Summit represents an important opportunity to welcome the international Francophone community, strengthen cultural exchange and share Cambodia’s identity with a wider global audience.

For Techo International Airport, supporting La Francophonie reflects its broader mission of welcoming people, connecting cultures and connecting Cambodia with the world. As a newly opened airport, it is proud to play a role in welcoming international guests for this important occasion.
