Phnom Penh: On August 4, 2025, H.E. Dr. Mao Havannall, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), officially handed over the airport certificate to the operator of Techo International Airport (CAIC). The certificate was presented to Lok Nak Oknha Dr. Pung Kheav Se, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CAIC.

H.E Dr. Mao Havannall underlined that the handover ceremony of the airport certificate issued by SSCA is clear evidence that Techo International Airport, classified as a 4F airport, has fully met the technical requirements in compliance with civil aviation safety standards and regulations. This certifies the airport’s readiness to begin operations as planned on September 9, 2025.
Located in Takhmao City, Kandal Province, Techo International Airport will officially begin service on September 9, 2025, with staffing in place to serve at least 1,000 passengers. The official inauguration ceremony is scheduled for October 20, 2025, under the high patronage of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.
Techo International Airport is built on a total area of 2,600 hectares, approximately 20 kilometers from Phnom Penh. Classified as a 4F international airport, the project is being developed in three phases, with Phase I alone requiring nearly USD 2 billion in investment.
As a 4F category airport, Techo International Airport is capable of handling long-haul intercontinental flights and accommodating large aircraft such as the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800.
