Tucked away in the forested hills of Mondulkiri, the Elephant Valley Project is Cambodia’s first and most respected elephant sanctuary, offering a truly ethical and immersive wildlife experience. Since 2006, this pioneering conservation initiative has provided a safe haven for elephants rescued from hard labor and tourism exploitation. Rather than offering rides or circus-style shows, the sanctuary allows visitors to observe elephants as they roam, bathe, and forage freely across expansive natural habitats.
A visit to the Elephant Valley Project is more than just an eco-tour—it’s a chance to contribute to long-term conservation efforts and support the local Bunong indigenous community through employment, education, and healthcare programs. Guided by experienced conservationists and local caretakers, guests can participate in half-day or full-day treks to learn about elephant behavior, forest ecology, and responsible tourism practices.
Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply curious about Cambodia's deeper stories, the Elephant Valley Project offers a rare, heartwarming connection with one of the world’s most intelligent and gentle animals—set in one of Cambodia’s most scenic and culturally rich regions.
